Project Summary

The Networks and Components project looked to develop risk-based methodologies to quantify the resilience of large distributed infrastructure networks to natural hazards events. Researchers reviewed the initial restoration of key lifeline networks following the Christchurch earthquakes and demonstrated how new methodology could optimise the identification of critical infrastructure vulnerabilities pre-event and substantially improve system recovery post-event. This has enabled the implementation of protection strategies to support community resilience.
