Community preparedness

Every community in Aotearoa New Zealand faces some form of natural hazard risk, and some communities face multiple threats. How can we best prepare at the local level for future events? Who needs to be involved, what can they contribute, and what information do they need?

Working with local councils, mana whenua, schools, and community groups, we’ve identified successful strategies to prepare our diverse communities for sudden events such as earthquakes and tsunami, as well as slow-building threats brought on by a changing climate.
