Ten interdisciplinary areas
Phase 2 of the Resilience Challenge kicked off in July 2019, and is focused around two major themes that align with the Government’s new National Disaster Resilience Strategy.
The Multi-hazard Risk Model comprises exciting new research to advance our understanding of natural hazard processes (such as earthquakes, tsunami, landslides, volcanoes, high-impact weather and wildfires).
The Resilience in Practice Model comprises social, economic and cultural research to develop tools and methods to ensure new resilience knowledge becomes part of daily decision making in New Zealand.
These Models will harness research from eight specialist Programmes outlined below.
